Age UK has allegedly offered its service users an E.ON tariff that was more expensive than other packages offered by the utility provider.

This story highlights the difficulty that elderly and vulnerable people have in accessing basic services. Many of us now access these services via the internet or 'phone. Not being able to speak to a person face to face can be a challenge for somebody who is not au fait with technology or simply finds communicating difficult.

To hear that a trusted advisor could have misled elderly people is troubling. I wonder whether charities' resources are better directed to providing access rather than offering specific products.
