In a 90-second video produced by Anomaly, children were asked if Santa could be a woman. Their reasons, though silly and laughable, are a bit alarming.
- She’d get a headache
- She would get “lost in the sky”
- She would have a baby, and that baby would crush all the toys during delivery
- She won’t have seen Santa Claus do it – she’ll need to practice
- She wouldn’t have the strength to carry the presents – they would be “too heavy for a lady” - she’d have to go to the gym first
Alex Holder, an Anomaly partner and co-executive creative director, said: "After working with Elle on its 'more women' campaign, which highlighted how few women there are in senior positions, we realised the debate didn’t stop at FTSE100 companies, Hollywood directors and politicians. "Even Christmas’ top job is taken by a man. We want to get people thinking about the lack of powerful female role models, and where better to start than the head of Christmas?"
