If this new law goes through, both large private companies and the public sector will have to reveal how much more they pay men than women (or occasionally vice versa...) in bonuses. That's going to affect a large part of the Nation's workforce and, as there seems little appetite for anyone to oppose the plan, we can expect some very revealing results. They will presumably reveal a gender pay gap, but what happens then? Naming and shaming, or perhaps legislation to strengthen the Equality Act?
